Control Valve

A control valve mainly consists of two main parts: the valve body and the valve actuator.

There are different types and styles of control valve bodies depending on the application, environment, and type of material to be controlled.

There are mainly two types of control valves used, such as linear motion or rotary motion.

Control Valve Actuator
Control valves can be operated electrically, pneumatically, or hydraulically.

A control valve receives a signal from an external controller (such as a PID controller, PLC, etc.) to change the position.

This external controller compares the setpoint given by the user with the feedback from the field and gives a signal to open or close the control valve.

These are some of the basic features that a good actuator must have.

⇒ Highly reliable. The actuator must be of a rugged design and maintenance-free.

Working Principle of Control Valve
As shown above, the actuator of a control valve can be operated electrically, pneumatically, or hydraulically. But the most commonly used actuator is the “Pneumatic Actuator”.

Control valves receive signals from controllers (such as PLC, DCS, PID controller) to close or open. These external controllers compare the set values ​​given by the user with the process values ​​from the field and issue commands accordingly.

Control valves used to control flow are called flow control valves, and control valves used to control pressure are called pressure control valves. Control valves used to control air are called air control valves.
